Portfolio of Works

Highway 395  runs from Southern California north to just beyond Reno, Nevada.  On the east side of the route is primarily high dessert and just a few miles west begin the Sierras and views of such sites as Mount Whitney, Convict Lake, Mammoth Ski Area and the June Lake Loop.

In this grouping you'll find settings from the Rockies in Wyoming and the Sierra Nevada of California.

Sometimes done solely for their own merit, these small paintings often serve as the primary reference source for larger studio paintings.

This group of paintings includes works up to 9" x 12" in size.  Many are either 5"x7" or 6"x8".  Some are plein air and some are studio paintings.  The pleasure in doing these is that they really demand the same attention to composition, design and technique that a larger painting would but, of course, don't require the same time to complete.  They are some of my favorite paintings and often stand alone as finished products.  Under some circumstances they can also serve as starting points for larger works.
